Wythall Community Choir Committee

Julian Ranson Chair

Julian chairs committee and General meetings.  He welcomes members to the group with a cheery smile.  If you need any gardening advice - he's the person to ask.

Ian Black - Treasurer

Ian is usually the first person you'll meet at our choir.  He takes the register and collects the subs each week.  He is assisted by Myra Bowers.  Ian also pays the bills and keeps all the finances organised so that they're ready for the annual accounts each year.

Val Farmer Choir Secretary

Val took over the role of Choir Secretary early in 2018.  She makes sure the membership records are kept up-to-date and that messages are sent to all our members via email.

She has lived in Wythall since 2015, after moving up the road from Portway.  Now, enjoying retirement, she enjoy travelling and socialising.  So,the choir is a great place to help with the latter, there’s so many people who are ‘in the know’ about what’s going on locally.

Anita Ritter Small Choir Co-ordinator

Anita has been with the choir since 2013  She joined after I seeing them perform at the Wythall Village Carnival.

"I originally joined the alto section, but volunteered to transfer to the sopranos to help support the section until new members joined – and I am still there! I love singing and coming to rehearsals on Mondays as I find that it lifts your spirit, no matter how hard a day you have had and all the choir members are so friendly.

About 20 years ago I had professional singing lessons for about 5 years which, I hope, helps me to perform well at the concerts especially if asked to sing a solo, an opportunity for which I always feel very privileged.

At the 2016 AGM, I was asked to take over the role of Small Choir Co-Ordinator which involves enrolling existing choir members to join, advertising the small choir and liaising with subsequent contacts.

I have also helped out conducting the main choir on the few occasions we have been without a leader.  I am not a trained conductor though.

Apart from this special commitment, I also help out with the choir wherever possible, whether that is helping to stack the chairs to lending a hand with anything such as the first Choir Auction."

Pammy Holmes  Social Secretary

Pammy grew up, and now lives again, in Shirley.   She has a static caravan, right on the beach, in North Wales, where she spends a lot of the summer. It’s a very beautiful place.

Pammy's daughter and her 2 grandaughters are very talented at singing and dancing.  So Pammy thought, if they can do it, why not give it a try (not the dancing!!!) so she joined the choir at the start and it was a very good decision. She loves being part of the choir.

"I have always loved music, all kinds, and love to sing. I can’t imagine a life without music. Having lived through Elvis, The Beatles, ELO, Elbow, Les Miserables, (some of my favourites) I think that our generation have had the very best experience in music."

Pammy organises fundraising events and social activities such as quiz nights and visits to the theatre.
